The problem.

Cemetery management in many regions remains paper-based or reliant on fragmented records. Families struggle to locate graves. Administrators lack digital tools to manage plots, track maintenance, or preserve historical data.
Existing solutions are either expensive enterprise systems or don’t exist at all.

I built this project to explore whether modern Android and .NET tooling could deliver a lightweight, affordable alternative.

the solution.

A full-stack mobile application with two integrated components:
Android App (Kotlin)
Google Maps integration for precise grave mapping and navigation
Role-based views (Admin/User) with JWT authentication
Advanced search by name, date, or location
User-configurable anniversary reminders with push notifications (FCM)
Backend API (.NET Core)
Secure REST API with JWT authentication and authorization
EF Core with MS SQL for scalable, relational data storage
Granular permission system — Admins approve/modify graves; Users can submit additions
Optimized spatial queries for map-based searches
Firebase Cloud Messaging integration for notifications

the outcome.

A fully functional prototype that demonstrates:
End-to-end Android + .NET development capability
Complex, real-world feature set (maps, auth, roles, notifications,)
Clean separation of concerns between mobile and API layers
The app is not published — it exists as a portfolio piece and technical demonstration.

Why I Include This Project?

Not every project needs to be a client engagement.
I built this to:
Push my skills beyond my daily .NET/WordPress comfort zone
Work with mobile sensors, maps, and modern Android tooling
Demonstrate full-stack capability across two platforms (mobile + API)
Have a ready answer when a client asks: “Have you built mobile apps?”
This project proves I can.
